Seize the Opportunity!

If you would have asked me two months ago where my running would be today, I would have said, “In the middle of half marathon training!” But where am I? I’m on an impromptu tangent into the realm of cross country.  In an effort to find some running buddies, I joined a cross country and track club. I wanted to race with them despite the fact training for 5ks all season will not produce a stellar half marathon.

I’m racing cross country because the opportunity is here. There will be more half marathons to race in the future. Sometimes you gotta just go with the flow and see what comes your way!

As I meet more runners, perhaps I’ll veer back into longer distance races, but until then, I’m spiking up.

  1. I know what you mean. I prefer road running myself. Last year I ran my first (and last) trail run. It was 10km but boy what a tough race it was. We were going up a mountain for more than half the race. I finished in 1 hour. My average 10k time is between 44 and 47 minutes. My best is 44 minutes. Imagine that. But hey, I can at least say I've done it, even if just once.
